In this section of IPL website you can find the right answers to the most frequently asked questions from users and easily find the flexible solution that best suits your needs.

The information given in the F.A.Q. section are based on the best knowledge of IPL.

However, they don’t exempt the customer from carrying out his own tests on IPL products, in order to determine their technical suitability for use for the intended purpose.

 

The following IPL items are manufactured on request, for quantities to be arranged with the sales office: Vulcano® stone, Vulcano® stone plus, Vulcano® 09 and 15 EL, Eolo Se, Eolo HT 180°C, Eolo clip Hypalon, Eolo HT 400°C and 450°C, Silduct 2S, Vulcano® 09 AF, Vulcano® PVC AF, Eolo PU AF, Apollo oil, apollo NL1 oil, Marte AO, Saturno idro se, Nautilus odor proof, Sil life W.

Vulcano® 09 AF and Vulcano® AF Plus are flame retardant, according to the German standard DIN 4102-B1.

IPL hoses made with flame resistant material, according to UL 94 V-0 are: Eolo termoresistente, Eolo HT 180°C, Vulcano® 09 AF, Vulcano® AF plus. The flame resistant range also includes Eolo PU AF, complying with UL 94 V-2.

Withing IPL braided hoses series, Arianna 20 bar, 40 bar and 80 bar are the most suitable solutions for pressure delivery of fungicide and fertiliser liquids and for agricultural spraying. In addition, IPL also offers Saturno L and Saturno L SE hoses (the latter in three different colour versions) as ideal solutions for suction and delivery of liquids used in the agricultural sector and on manure spreaders.

IPL recommends Nautilus odor proof, specifically designed for sanitary systems in the nautical industry: made with a special formulation in PVC-P, it is the ideal solution to prevent the spread of unpleasant odours on board.

All IPL hoses included in the “Pharmaceutical” section are suitable for the transfer of substances of a pharmaceutical nature, according to USP class VI: Plutone PU press, Pharmapress, Pharmasteel, Pharmasteel press, Sil life W and IPL Crystal Clear-55

Within the “Food” and “Pharmaceutical” sections, Next 09 ET, Plutone PU press and Plutone PU features an AISI 302 stainless steel spiral, as well as the TPE-S hoses Pharmasteel and Pharmasteel press. Sil life W, made of platinum cured silicone, is reinforced by an AISI 316L stainless steel spiral.

Lightweighted and with a minimum wall thickness ranging from 0.6 mm to 1.0 mm, Eolo SL represents the lightest IPL hose for air and fume extraction systems.

IPL offers Arianna PU hose which combines a good working pressure (20 bar)with an excellent abrasion resistance and maintains high flexibility even at low temperatures.

IPL hoses that have a constant wall thickness over the whole diameter range are: Vulcano® 04 ET, Vulcano® 09 EST/ET, Vulcano® 12 ET, Vulcano® 15 EST/ET, Vulcano® 09 EL, Vulcano® 15 EL, Vulcano® AF plus, Vulcano® 09 AF, Vulcano® stone and Vulcano® stone plus.

IPL hoses with a minimum wall thickness of 0.9 mm or more can reach a working temperature up to +125°C for short periods, such as: Vulcano® 09 est, Vulcano® 15 est, Vulcano® stone, Vulcano® stone plus, Vulcano® 09 EL, Vulcano® 09 AF, Vulcano® 15 EL, Next 09, Next 15, next 09 ET.

Some hoses included in the Vulcano® range have a TPU-coated steel spiral, to enhance the maximum adhesion to the wall, such as: Vulcano® M FR, Vulcano® R FR, Vulcano® 09 EST/ET, Vulcano® 15 EST/ET, Vulcano® stone, Vulcano® stone plus, Vulcano® AF plus, Vulcano® 09 AF, Vulcano® 12 ET; in addition, the whole Next series features a TPU-coated steel spiral.

The Vulcano® series with wall thicknesses from 1.5 mm to 2.5 mm, such as: Vulcano® 15 est, Next 15 est, Vulcano® stone and Vulcano® stone plus, as well as Urano PU and Urano HD super, which, thanks to thier TPU liner, are both suitable for heavy-duty applications involving the passage of highly abrasive substances.

IPL has a wide range of hoses dedicated to the woodworking industry; it includes all ester based TPU Vulcano® hoses with minimum wall thicknesses ranging from 0.35 mm up to 1.5 mm. In particular, the most suitable hose for dynamic applications on suction systems is Vulcano® M FR, due to its high flexibility, which allows a greater number of bending cycles.

The Next range has a completely smooth inner surface to optimise the flow of the transported media.

The ideal solution for industrial cleaning, especially in slaughterhouses, meat and fish processing plants, is the Cleanwash hose. Thanks to its special grease-resistant cover, it is particularly suitable for cleaning operations in the food industry.

Ether based TPU hoses are best suited for applications where the bacterial proliferation is likely to occur. Within the Vulcano® series, IPL offers Vulcano® 04 ET, Vulcano® 09 ET, Vulcano® 12 ET, Vulcano® 15 ET and the Next 09 ET hose. In addition to the above-mentioned products, Eolo PU food, Eolo PUP food and Zeus PU food are also resistant to hydrolytic and microbial attacks, thanks to their ether based TPU wall. Within Plutone range, the most suitable solutions for applications where microbial resistance is required are Plutone PU and Plutone PU press, both made of ether based TPU wall.

Ester based TPU hoses are mainly resistant to abrasion but not to hydrolytic and microbial attack. IPL therefore recommends the use of ether based TPU products for applications where bacterial proliferation is likely to occur, especially in the food industry.

IPL offers a wide range of food grade hoses, according to US FDA Reg. and included in the “Food” section, as: Vulcano® 04 ET, Vulcano® 09 ET, Vulcano® 12 ET, Vulcano® 15 ET, Next 09 ET, Eolo PU food, Eolo PUP food, Zeus PU food; within the Plutone range, the FDA-certified hoses are Plutone PU, Plutone PU press, Plutone PF, Plutone Bio, Plutone press Bio; finally we find Arianna Bio, the TPE-S range, Crystal Clear-55 and Sil life W.

Within the “Food” and “Pharma” sections, all IPL hoses are suitable for food contact, according to EU 10/2011.

The most suitable hoses for the transfer of wine, marc, vinegar and spirits are Bacco, Nettuno eno, Spiralpress eno and Plutone PF. All these products are EU 10/2011 certified (classes A, B, C, D1) and resist to substances with an alcohol concentration up to 50%.

The ideal hoses for the passage of milk and dairy products are those included in the BIO range: Arianna bio, Plutone bio and Plutone press bio; all these products are certified EU 10/2011 (classes A, B, C, D1). Also Nettuno and Plutone PF (blue coloured version)are especially used in the dairy industry and are both class D1 certified.

The products we recommend for the passage of substances containing fats and certified class D2,according to EU 10/2011, include the ether based TPU hoses, such as: Eolo PU food, Eolo PUP food and Zeus PU food; within Plutone range, we find solutions particularly suitable for the passage of food liquids and vegetable oils, such as Plutone PU and Plutone PU press; also the TPE-S hoses such as Pharmapress, Pharmasteel and Pharmasteel press, are suitable for the transfer of fats and vegetable oil, thanks to the high resistance of their thermoplastic material.

TPE-S hoses are the most suitable solutions for the passage of substances with a high alcohol concentration, as they have a resistance up to 96% alcohol content.

The most suitable hose for the transfer of petrol and petroleum products is Spiralpress oil, which is specially designed for the passage of fuel, with an aromatic concentration up to 50%.

Plutone PK, made of TPV, is resistant to alkalis, acids and many different chemicals. In addition, IPL hoses made of a special PVC-NBR formulation are also suitable for the passage of mineral oils, lubricants and chemical substances: Pluto PO, Spiralpress oil, Apollo oil and Apollo NL1 oil. Finally, Marte AO, made with a special antimigration PVC compound, is an excellent solution for suction and delivery of mineral oils, lubricants and raw fuels (naphtha and diesel oil).

Within the Vulcano® range, the compressible hoses are the light abrasion hoses: Vulcano® S1, Vulcano® Z, Vulcano® ZR, Vulcano® R FR, Vulcano® M FR and Vulcano® 04 ET; IPL also offers Eolo termoresistente (8:1 axial compressibility),on request.

Vulcano® 09 EL and Vulcano® 15 EL are made of ester based TPU with electrically conductive properties (104 Ohm/m).
